   BE HONEST with yourself and your abilities - this is an incredible opportunity to become a better Balboa dancer
   Just because you were in LEVEL X last year does not mean you should be in LEVEL X+1 this year!!! 

   6 LEVELS are offered so that you can put yourself in the correct level for the appropriate instruction for your skills.
   Remember to assess your level based on a GLOBAL scale versus a local community scale...

FRESHMAN FOLLOWER - level 1 of 6 (BEG) - (25 spot limit- 17 available)
 FRESHMAN LEADER - level 1 of 6 (BEG) - (25 spot limit - 12 available)
 INSTRUCTORS WILL BE COVERING THE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS IN ALL CLASSES
        – students that are new to Balboa OR still working on Bal-Swing foundation moves OR wanting to master foundation moves
            (basic, lollies, crossovers, throwouts, transitions)
        -  You are new to Balboa or want to really understand the basics

 SOPHOMORE FOLLOWER - level 2 of 6 (BEG/INT) -  (40 spot limit - 15 available)
 SOPHOMORE LEADER - level 2 of 6 (BEG/INT) -  (40 spot limit - 20 available)
 INSTRUCTORS WILL COVER VARIATIONS ON SPECIFIC MOVES AS SHOWN ON THE SCHEDULE
INSTRUCTORS WILL FOCUS ON SOLID BASIC SKILLS AND MAY REVIEW FUNDAMENTALS
        – students that know the basics, yet are still learning the nuances of the dance and working on putting things together
        - You can dance smoothly at medium Balboa tempos (150-170 BPM)
        -  You realize that there are Balboa moves and Bal-Swing moves and are still working to dance them well.
        -  You are working on understanding transitions between Balboa and Bal-Swing
        -  You are working on the Balboa foundation moves (break turns, ad-libs, paddles, crabwalks)

JUNIOR FOLLOWER - level 3 of 6 (INT) -  (40 spot limit - 8 available)
 JUNIOR LEADER - level 3 of 6 (INT) -  (40 spots available - 10 available)
 INSTRUCTORS WILL COVER VARIATIONS ON SPECIFIC MOVES AS SHOWN ON THE SCHEDULE
INSTRUCTORS WILL NOT TEACH FUNDAMENTAL STEPS
         – students that know their foundation moves very well and are ready for variations
        - You are VERY COMFORTABLE dancing at the following tempos (170-200 BPM)
        - You are VERY COMFORTABLE with ALL the Balboa foundation moves and ALL the Bal-Swing foundation moves
        -  You are working on mastering transitions between Balboa and Bal-Swing
        -  You can dance an entire song using Balboa & Bal-Swing

 SENIOR FOLLOWER - level 4 of 6 (INT/ADV) -  (45 spot limit - SOLD OUT!)

 INSTRUCTORS WILL COVER VARIATIONS ON SPECIFIC MOVES & STYLING AS SHOWN ON THE SCHEDULE
INSTRUCTORS WILL NOT TEACH FUNDAMENTAL STEPS
      – students ready for footwork, slides, syncopation and styling as well as complex movement
        - You are COMFORTABLE dancing at FAST tempos (200-220 BPM)
        -  You are an advanced Balboa dancer in your local community
        -  You are capable of leading or following dancers of all levels on the social dance floor
        -  You are working on styling and footwork variations
        -  You have a FULL UNDERSTANDING of pure Balboa and dance it socially      
        -  You are working on making your Balboa & Bal-Swing musical

 INSTRUCTORS WILL COVER COMBINATIONS OF MOVES & STYLING WHILE DISCUSSING ADVANCED TOPICS
        – students that add styling and create movement in their own Balboa dancing
        - You are VERY COMFORTABLE dancing at tempos (220+ BPM) - you are in control and are relaxed at top speed
        -  You are at the highest level at national/international workshops you attend
        -  You seamlessly blend ALL the fundamental movements of Balboa & Bal-Swing with ANY partner on the social floor      
        -  You have a strong grasp of musicality in your Balboa & Bal-Swing 
        - You are comfortable with complex variations, footwork, and combining multiple topics in one class

 PhD / INVITATION FOLLOWER - level 6 of 6 -  (20 spot limit - 2 available)
 PhD / INVITATION LEADER - level 6 of 6 -  (20 spot limit - 7 available)
 INSTRUCTORS WILL COVER COMBINATIONS/STYLING/ADVANCED CONCEPTS AND MORE...
       – Registration for this level is by INVITATION ONLY

        -  the highest level of invited students - typically instructors and advanced students that have been dancing Balboa for many years
        -  Please contact me if you feel that you should be at this level

(NO additional fee for the raffle - Joel and Alison will teach a weekend of Balboa in your community donating 10 hours of instruction.
 If you are part of a privileged Balboa community (meaning you have plenty of instructors or established weekends for Balboa)

The Balboa Pavilion is 94 miles north of San Diego - the bus is the easiest way to make it there and back.
