Jennifer Applegarth will be our competition manager.
She has competed and placed in numerous comps and is very reliable and detail oriented.

Based on your feedback from previous years, we want to have as much social dance time as possible.
We have added competitions to the schedule without impacting the usual evening schedule for social
dancing to amazing live music in the beautiful venues booked for this event.

When you register, you will be asked if you are competing and to select your competitions.

All competitors must be Full Weekend or Competition Pass holders.
Competition pass holders must enter at least 2 competitions.

The following competitions will be held at Balboa Rendezvous:
Amateur Jack & Jill   /   Open Jack & Jill

Amateur Couples   /   International Balboa Championship

Solo Charleston Challenge  - in honor of Maxie Dorf

Only amateurs may compete in Amateur J&J and Couples contest.
Anyone may compete in the Open Jack & Jill and International Balboa Championship.
A competitor may compete in the Amateur division or the Open division but not both.
An Amateur is someone with the following attributes:

  1. Does not make 60% of their income from teaching Balboa (or other forms of swing dancing).
  2. Has NOT made the finals of the International Balboa Championship (2005-2010).
  3. Has NOT made the finals of other national Balboa competitions.

Please note that the final decision as to whether someone will be able to compete as an amateur is up to the discretion of the competition manager at BR. If you register for a level that the above mentioned find inaccurate you will be notified as such and the appropriate change will be made.
